Fish Eggs and Gravel

Aquarium gravel represents substrate. The salmon eggs are small glass beads. Bird seed is used for top gravel to cover the redd. The top gravel rinses off showing turbulent destruction of redd from high water flow. (The salmon pictured here are mini-rainbow trout taken from small fishing lures. Let me know if you have any other resource for mini-salmon!)

Trees standing in clay for creation of forests and riparian areas on model. The felt and felt strips are used to represent ground cover.

The root wad is made using small sticks stuck into a wad of clay.

Large woody debris is made using small sticks and vegetation broken or torn into appropriate sizes.
